Ogamichiba District Autumn Festival Float Parade

About this event

Traditional festival floats designated as cultural properties by Iwakura City, decorated with numerous lanterns, will make a mystical procession through the Honmachi district. Highlights of the festival include float pulling and demonstrations of mechanical karakuri puppets handed down from the Edo period. In addition, the Suzui-cho Shishikan (Lion Mask Hall), a city-designated cultural property, will be exhibited at Shinmizo Shrine, offering a glimpse into local history and culture. Traffic restrictions will be enforced along the parade route and surrounding roads during the procession. This festival is supported by the Ogamichiba Float Preservation Society, dedicated to reviving, passing down, and preserving Iwakura's float culture from the Edo period.
