About this event

Held in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, the "43rd Ueno Castle Takigi Noh" is an annual autumn tradition in Iga, the birthplace of Kan'ami who perfected Noh theater. Visitors can enjoy mystical dances illuminated by moonlight and bonfires, set against the backdrop of the illuminated Iga Ueno Castle. This year, it will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with doors opening at 5:15 PM and the performance starting at 6:00 PM. The venue is a specially prepared area at the Iga Ueno Castle Honmaru Square, but will be moved to the Iga City Cultural Hall in case of rain. The program includes Kodomo Shimai (children's dance), Shimai, the Maibayashi "Ataka," Izumi-ryu Kyogen "Konbu Uri," Kita-ryu "Kiyotsune," along with commentary about Noh. Ticket prices are 3,500 yen for reserved S seats (includes tea ticket), 2,000 yen for A seat area, 1,500 yen for unreserved general seating, 700 yen for high school students and younger, and free for the first 30 junior high school students and younger (numbered ticket required, must be accompanied by a guardian). Tickets will be on sale starting at 9:00 AM on Sunday, July 19 at ticket agencies such as the Iga City Cultural Hall and via electronic tickets (teket). Capacity is 300 seats.
