73rd Hikone Castle Festival Parade

The 'Hikone Castle Festival Parade,' a representative autumn event of Hikone, will be held on Tuesday (national holiday), November 3, 2026 (Reiwa 8). Unfolding throughout the area around Hikone Castle from 13:00 to 14:30, this parade features marching bands by local school and college students, a children's daimyo procession, and a children's historical costume procession. In addition, featuring Hikone's distinctive character, a gorgeous historical picture scroll by several hundred participants in total—including the Hikone Town Hikeshi (firefighter) procession, the Ichimonji-gasa hat procession, and the Red Demon Ii Vassal Clan procession—will unfold for about 1 hour. The ladder-climbing performance by the Hikone Town Firefighter Brigade is also a must-see highlight. The parade starts at the 'Asahicho Nishi' intersection on Ekimae Oshiro-dori, continuing past Iroha-matsu pines, inside Hikone Castle grounds, Yumekyobashi, Honmachi, Ginza, Noboricho, and on to Joto Elementary School. The event will be cancelled in case of rain.
