Nagaya Art Festival 2026

Held at venues including traditional machiya townhouses and temples in central Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, the "Nagaya Art Festival 2026" is a walking-style art festival where art blends into everyday scenery. Over the 16 days from October 29 (Thu) to November 13 (Fri), 2026, it offers the opportunity to encounter artworks while strolling through town and discover new facets of a familiar townscape. Following an autumn 2024 prologue, this marks the 1st official edition. Details regarding venues, participating artists, admission passes, and guidebooks are scheduled to be announced on the official website in September. Latest updates will also be shared on Instagram (@nagahama_art_fes). By using everyday living spaces such as machiya townhouses, kura storehouses, and shops as venues, this art festival provides visitors with a unique experience of viewing artworks while wandering through the town. By carefully observing scenes usually passed by, a special 16 days will be created where a familiar town feels like one seen for the first time. Related events and workshops are also being prepared, allowing visitors to enjoy art across the entire town of Nagahama.
