Horokuhia (Ninja Bomb) Crafting & Detonation Experience

About this event

This is an event where you can actually make a "Horokuhia"—a bomb-like weapon used by ninjas in the past—using Shigaraki ware earthenware (Horoku-dama), a traditional craft of Koka, and experience its explosive power firsthand through a detonation experience. While learning the principles of gunpowder, participants will craft a replica Horokuhia, put on ninja costumes, and take on the climactic detonation experience. You can experience two types of explosions—one producing smoke and one producing flames—and feel the power of the Horokuhia firsthand along with powerful sounds. You can also take commemorative photos and videos in your favorite poses. Through this experience, you can connect with the history and techniques of Koka's ninjas.
