This JR Fureai Hiking event allows participants to explore the only natural habitat of Utsukushimatsu pines in Japan and enjoy a tour of a sake brewery practicing 'traditional sake brewing.' On this approximately 5 km course, participants will visit the Hiramatsu Utsukushimatsu pine habitat, Matsuo Shrine, and Kitajima Brewery, which won a gold award at the 2026 Annual Japan Sake Awards (Reiwa 8). This is a morning hike that meets at JR Kusatsu Line Kosei Station and disbands back at Kosei Station after touring the sake brewery and other spots. Participation is free and no reservation is required; it will proceed in light rain but will be cancelled in stormy weather. Bringing a water bottle, rain gear, comfortable walking clothes, sneakers, and a backpack that keeps both hands free is recommended.
