About this event

An annual summer festival held in Aisho Town, Shiga Prefecture. The entire Nakasendo Echigawa-juku post town area is closed to traffic, and becomes lively centered around Echigawa Fureai Honjin with a market, stage events, and more. In 'All Japan Bin-temari Rolling', one of the festival's main events, teams of 3 people roll an extra-large bin-temari with a diameter of 150 cm to compete for time in a relay-style giant ball rolling race, bringing excitement to the entire venue as one. This event is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, starting around 16:30. Eligibility requires participants to be 10 years old or older, with teams containing at least 1 guardian aged 18 or older, or teams of only minors accompanied by a guardian also eligible to participate. 10 teams will be recruited, and a lottery will be held if applications exceed the limit. The application deadline is Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 5:00 PM. It is a lively, community-wide festival perfect for making summer memories.
