About this event

The '27th Koiya Festival' is a dance festival aimed at connecting people, held across various locations in Osaka Prefecture with the Sun Plaza in Osaka Castle Park as its main venue. Triggered by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995, it was founded by university students in the Kansai region, and students have passed down the baton for 27 years. This festival aims to create pride in dancing in one's own city, a space full of smiles, open participation for everyone, and opportunities for interaction. Today, it has grown into a large-scale festival with 100 teams and 4,500 dancers, with many participants coming from outside the Kansai area each year. This year's theme is 'Full of Smiles! Connected to Infinity!' In addition to the main venue at Sun Plaza in Osaka Castle Park, it is also held at regional venues such as Suehiro Park (Daito City), Kyobashi Koitomo Venue (Miyakojima-ku, Osaka City), Umeda Sky Building Venue (Kita-ku, Osaka City), and Suita Esaka Venue (Suita City). Featuring parade-style dance performances and a grand dance in which anyone can join, the festival is conceptualized around emotion, interaction, and dancing in an extraordinary atmosphere.
