About this event

This is a historic event that has been handed down over many years as a traditional event rooted in the local community. The sight of gorgeously decorated futon daiko (drum floats) parading through the town along with spirited chants is cherished as a scene symbolizing the pride and vitality of the area. Passed down across generations, this procession deepens community ties and plays an important role in preserving and promoting traditional culture. Its powerful presence and brilliance leave a strong impression on visitors, making it one of the highlights that color the autumn festival. The futon daiko, a large drum float carried in and around the Kawachi and Senshu regions, involves beating the drum housed inside while about 50 people carry the float weighing roughly 1 ton, dynamically marching around Hirakatashi Station in rhythm with chants. As a festival to pray for a bountiful harvest during the autumn annual festival of Okami Shrine in Hirakata Kaminocho, its origins are said to date back to the Edo period.
