Yoneda Tenjin Shrine Autumn Festival
Japanese name:米田天神社秋祭り
📅 Sat, Oct 10, 2026 - Sun, Oct 11, 2026
About this event
This autumn festival is held at Yoneda Tenjin Shrine, which is said to have been rebuilt by Miyamoto Iori, adopted son of Miyamoto Musashi and chief retainer of the Kokura Domain, as a branch shrine of Tomari Shrine in Kakogawa City. Held every year on the second Saturday and Sunday of October, it is full of power as yatai (floats) presented by each parishioner district enter the shrine and parade through the neighborhood. On both days, after departing from the float storehouses, neriawase (float clashing/jostling) is performed, greatly enlivening the festival. Adult floats and children's portable shrines also parade through town, allowing visitors to experience the traditional festival atmosphere.
