Japanese name:萬燈会
📅 Sun, Aug 23, 2026 - Thu, Aug 27, 2026
About this event
The annual regular event 'Mando-e' will be held at Tada Shrine. Based on the ancient custom of offering countless lanterns before the deities during festivals to soothe the divine spirit, it is held on the 27th day of the 8th lunar month, which is the memorial day of the enshrined deity, Lord Mitsunaka. During the period, lanterns inscribed with the names of each worshiper will be hung throughout the shrine precincts, creating a magical space. Those wishing to offer a lantern can apply by phone or via the website. Reception hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During the period, the gates remain open until 8:30 PM, allowing visitors to enjoy the light of the lanterns at night.
