Held around the Tsutsui Castle ruins in Tsutsui-cho, Yamatokoriyama City, a place associated with the Sengoku warlord Tsutsui Junkei, the '23rd Junkei Festival' is an event where you can feel history and tradition. On the day, it opens at 10:30, and commemorative gunshots by the Tsutsui Junkei Teppo-tai (gun corps) will echo. Afterwards, a departure ceremony takes place, where Tsutsui Junkei in Buddhist monk attire exchanges sake cups with Shima Sakon and Matsukura Ukon clad in armor, evoking the atmosphere of the time. The procession of monks and warriors parades past Kintetsu Tsutsui Station to the Tsutsui Castle ruins, enlivening the festival. Furthermore, on that day, the 'Seated Statue of Tsutsui Junkei' will be specially exhibited at Kosen-ji Temple, along with planned food stalls and various entertainment, offering content to enjoy throughout the day.
