Japanese name:第37回巨木を語ろう全国フォーラム奈良・天理大会 2026
📅 Sat, Oct 17, 2026 - Sun, Oct 18, 2026
About this event
The 'National Giant Tree Forum' is a nationwide convention held in a different location each year to consider the future of satoyama and forests through giant trees across Japan. The 37th edition will be held at the Tenri City Cultural Center, focusing on case study presentations by practitioners of satoyama creation and forest kindergartens (Mori no Yochien). On Saturday, October 17, there will be a convention declaration by Mayor Ken Namikawa of Tenri City and the handing over of the convention flag to the next host city, Hokuto City in Yamanashi Prefecture. In addition, an exchange party will be held at Nara Plaza Hotel from 18:00 on the same day. On the following day, Sunday, October 18, an excursion (a tour visiting giant trees) around giant trees and shrines in Tenri City will take place; Course A visits Kenichi Natural Farm Tea Garden, Himuro Shrine, Baramon Cedar, and more, while Course B visits Isonokami Jingu Shrine, Tenrikyo Church Headquarters, Baramon Cedar, and more. The forum is free of charge and requires no registration. The exchange party and excursion are paid and require advance registration, but the application period has ended. This convention features valuable presentations for fostering a sustainable future, such as a circular satoyama vision where forests, people, and communities resonate together, and stories of forest kindergartens where children grow.
