The 65th Sakurai City Summer University will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the 2nd Floor Multipurpose Hall of Sakurai City Mahoroba Center. Reception begins at 13:00, and the lecture takes place from 13:30 to 15:00. The capacity is 80 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The participation fee is 1,500 yen (1,200 yen for association members). Masashi Kinoshita, Professor Emeritus at Tokyo Gakugei University, will be invited as the lecturer to speak on the value of the "Palatial Capitals of Asuka and Fujiwara" and the Yamada-dera Temple ruins. Mr. Kinoshita worked for many years at the Nara National Cultural Properties Research Institute on excavation surveys of Heijo Palace ruins and Asuka-Fujiwara capital ruins, and is a leading authority in archaeology and history who contributed to excavations such as Emperor Saimei's Kengoshizuka Kofun and the discovery of Japan's oldest water clock remains. He has authored numerous books and possesses profound knowledge of ancient Japanese history and culture.
