Japanese name:つくって、比べて、味わう。柿の葉寿司体験

📅 Thu, Jul 30, 2026 - Sat, Aug 22, 2026

📍 Kawakami, Nara

About this event

This event in Kawakami Village, Nara Prefecture, offers a hands-on experience making Kakinoha Sushi (persimmon leaf sushi), known as a famous Yoshino specialty. Kakinoha Sushi was originally a local cuisine of Kawakami Village, made in each household as a celebratory feast for Kawabiraki (the opening of the sweetfish fishing season on June 1). In this experience, you can touch upon this traditional food culture, make Kakinoha Sushi yourself, and compare and savor its flavors. It is a valuable opportunity to deeply understand the local food culture and enjoy it with all five senses. After the workshop, time is provided to taste and compare Kakinoha Sushi from various shops within the village. You can fully experience the inherited "taste" and "skills" along with the unique individuality of each shop all in one event.
