Japanese name:かずちゃんと「亥の子餅」をつくろう

About this event
This is a hands-on experience event to make "Inoko Mochi," a traditional food culture of Kawakami Village, Nara Prefecture, together with local mother Kazuko Shiotani, affectionately known as "Kazu-chan." Inoko Mochi is an ohagi-like treat made by mashing taro rice and wrapping it in sweet bean paste. In the Ikari district of Kawakami Village, it has traditionally been made and eaten alongside the Benten festival on the Day of the Boar in the tenth month of the lunar calendar. Making it with regular rice rather than glutinous rice is a unique feature of Ikari. Through making Inoko Mochi, this event allows you to experience the connection between local living and food. It will be a valuable opportunity to recreate traditional flavors while enjoying interaction with locals.
