About this event
An autumn festival held at Kawawake Shrine in Kurotaki Village, Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture. Celebrating bountiful harvests across the village, at Kawawake Shrine (Nakato District), elegant dances are dedicated before the deity accompanied by sho pipes played using 17 bamboo tubes. In addition, rice cake tossing (mochimaki) and other activities take place, bustling the shrine grounds with many visitors. This festival vividly reflects local tradition and culture, conveying the atmosphere of good old Japanese festivals to visitors.
