44th Kawakami Furusato Festival

About this event

This festival is packed with hands-on participatory events, including stage performances by Kawakami children, the traditional sweetfish (ayu) and eel catching event (advance lottery tickets distributed), Kawakami new-crop rice and candy scooping, a Japanese cedar log speed-sawing competition, a soybean speed-picking competition, and mochi tossing. This year, a nostalgic hit record concert will also be held for the first time. With food stalls by local groups and kitchen cars, you can spend a smile-filled day in autumn Kawakami. Participation in the sweetfish and eel catching contest is free for elementary school students and 500 yen for the adult division (junior high school students and older).
