About this event
This is a festival commemorating Nomura Motoni, a female waka poet of the late Edo period, connected to "Suzumushizaka" located west of the front approach to Hofu Tenmangu Shrine. It originates from the legend that when Motoni stayed at Daisenbo in Hofu Tenmangu, she spoke of how exceptionally beautiful the singing of the bell crickets was. This release ritual began on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Motoni's death (2016). Held at Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, the event honors Motoni's achievements and conveys her beautiful artistic sensibility to the modern day.
