About this event
At the Naganobori Copper Mine Cultural Exchange Center (Daibutsu Museum) located in Naganobori, Mitocho, Mine City—said to be the birthplace of the Great Buddha of Nara—an event where you can experience fire-making and hagama pot rice cooking will be held. Under the guidance of staff, you can challenge fire-making, which is slightly difficult but rewarding. Using the ember you sparked yourselves, you will cook rice in a hagama pot and enjoy it along with delicious tonjiru (pork miso soup) specially prepared by the Daibutsu Museum. The rice cooked by yourselves will taste exceptionally delicious. Through this traditional experience of making fire and eating rice cooked with it, the event offers a valuable opportunity to appreciate the importance of food and the joy of cooking. You can fully savor the sense of accomplishment from fire-making and the exquisite flavor of freshly cooked rice.
