Held annually from August 1 to August 31 at Kora Taisha Shrine, situated on Mount Kora in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, the "Kora Taisha Shrine Lantern Dedication Festival" is a fantastical event that colors summer nights. Lanterns lining both sides of the 131 stone steps are lit, and the path of light emerging in the pitch-black darkness has become a summer tradition in Kurume. From the Kora Taisha observation point, visitors can enjoy both the lantern lights and the night view of Kurume city simultaneously, presenting an atmosphere-rich, breathtaking vista. Surrounded by sacred light and accompanied by clear summer air, visitors can enjoy a heart-soothing nighttime shrine visit.
