Fujiyama Pear Picking
Japanese name:藤山の梨狩り
📅 Sat, Aug 29, 2026 - Sun, Aug 30, 2026
About this event
In Fujiyamamachi, Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, you can enjoy pear picking, an autumn delicacy. This event began in 2010 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of pear cultivation in the area. Fujiyama pears are one of Kurume's representative fruits, known as 'safe, secure, and delicious pears.' They are characterized by their sweet, crisp texture and refreshing juice that fills your mouth the moment you take a bite. The pear orchards in Fujiyamamachi, which serve as the venue, are located on hillsides, offering a wonderful view overlooking Mount Unzen Fugendake in the distance on clear days. In 2026, it will be held for two days on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, with registration open from 8:30 to 12:00 (reservations prioritized). The fee is 600 yen per kilogram. The event will proceed in light rain, but will be canceled in severe weather.
