The 20th Chikugo River Kappathlon in Harazuru Onsen

The '20th Chikugo River Kappathlon in Harazuru Onsen', a multi-sport race featuring only swimming and biking and affectionately known as the 'triathlon without running', will be held. Set against the Chikugo River, the hometown of 'Kusenbo', head of all kappa across Japan, the race starts upstream from Harazuru Bridge. Participants enjoy swimming with the current of the Chikugo River, followed by cycling along the Chikugo River Cycling Road. With a course setting of a 1000m swim and 40km bike ride, its appeal is that even those who are not fond of running or have knee pain can enter with peace of mind. The event will be held rain or shine, and spectating is free. The event program includes athlete check-in, opening ceremony, race briefing, swim start, Kappathlon start, estimated finish time for the final athlete, lunch, Harazuru Onsen hot spring bath, entertainment attractions, awards ceremony, and closing ceremony. The participation fee includes a bento lunch, commemorative gift, and Harazuru Onsen bath ticket, allowing participants to wash away sweat in the famous hot springs after the event.
