New Residents Exchange Event: Discover and Experience Asakura's Traditional Industries

Asakura City is an attractive town surrounded by lush nature rich in water and greenery, with easy access from Fukuoka Airport and Hakata. This exchange gathering provides a valuable opportunity to experience Asakura's traditional industries. This time, organized in collaboration with the Akizuki Domain Kuroda Sanshoku no Kai, the event will take place across three venues: Hirokyu Kudzu Honpo, Endo Kingando, and Chikuzen Akizuki Washi. As the first installment, participants will experience making authentic hon-kudzu crafted using Japan's only traditional manufacturing method at Hirokyu Kudzu Honpo, which boasts 207 years in business. Under the guidance of the 10th-generation owner, visitors can enjoy a facility tour, kudzu kneading experience, and tasting. Producing kudzu-mochi requires a natural drying period of six months to a year, and in the Edo period it was favored as an offering presented to the Akizuki Domain.
