On Sunday, November 1, 2026, an event titled "From Miyama! The Sounds of the Biwa, The Wonders of the Biwa" will be held in Miyama City, Fukuoka Prefecture. This event brings together two biwa traditions with roots in Kyushu: Chikuzen Biwa from Fukuoka Prefecture and Satsuma Biwa from Kagoshima Prefecture. It is a rare opportunity to experience the differences in their origins and expressive styles through solo performances and harmonious duets, contrasting the "graceful and delicate" Chikuzen Biwa with the "dynamic and powerful" Satsuma Biwa. In addition, a new piece composed specifically for this day will make its world premiere, promising a special performance that transcends the boundaries of traditional performing arts. Doors open at 13:15 on the day of the performance. Tickets are 2,000 yen for adults and free for children (elementary school through high school students), though an admission ticket is required. Admission tickets are distributed at the reception desk of the Miyama City General Civic Center and can also be purchased via Lawson Ticket. At the venue, a hands-on experience booth where visitors can touch and play the biwa will be set up from 13:15 to 13:50 and after the performance. Furthermore, limited-edition acrylic keychains (gacha-gacha) featuring biwa and loquat designs will be available for purchase. The highlight of this concert is the collaboration between the graceful, delicate Chikuzen Biwa and the dynamic, powerful Satsuma Biwa. Held at MIYAMAX in Miyama City, come and fully immerse yourself in solo pieces, resonant duets, and the world premiere of a new piece in this special performance.
