The "Shogi Japan Series JT Pro Official Tournament Round 2 Game 4 (Kumamoto Tournament)" will be held as the "Kumamoto Reconstruction Support Match," with the venue changed from the originally planned Grandmesse Kumamoto in Mashiki Town to Kumamoto Castle Hall in Kumamoto City, in consideration of the impact of the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquakes. This match aims to cheer on Kumamoto through the power of shogi. The contending players, JT Cup Champion Sota Fujii and 8th Dan Wataru Yashiro, are scheduled to deliver messages of support to the people of Kumamoto. Spectating the public match requires advance lottery application, with the application period running from August 24 (Mon) to August 30 (Sun). In addition, the public match will be broadcast live on ABEMA. Prior to the match, a "Shogi Player Talk Show" will also be held featuring 9th Dan Yasumitsu Sato as a special guest, along with 9th Dan Amahiko Sato, Ladies 2nd Dan Rei Taketomi, and Ladies 1st Dan Marin Matsushita, conveying thoughts of encouragement to Kumamoto through shogi. Meanwhile, the "TableMark Children's Tournament (Kumamoto Tournament)" scheduled for the same day has been canceled due to the venue change; however, measures will be taken to invite some of the applicants to spectate the "Kumamoto Reconstruction Support Match."
