The Moon Viewing Festival in the castle town of Kitsuki will take place, where you can enjoy a magical night illuminated by bamboo lanterns and paper lanterns (andon). Historically in Kitsuki, the tea ceremony culture took root even among ordinary citizens as the feudal lord encouraged tea ceremonies, leading to frequent tea gatherings. The tradition of lighting paper lanterns to guide the steps of guests visiting for tea ceremonies has been preserved in the form of this "Kangetsusai" (Moon Viewing Festival). Because lanterns lit the path for moon-viewing visitors, the beauty and ambiance of the castle town enveloped in lantern light and moonlight evoke an elegant atmosphere unique to this season.
