Japanese name:令和8年度なはーと市民劇プロジェクト「久茂地小学校ものがたり」

About this event
Held as a 5th anniversary commemorative project of Naha Cultural Arts Theater NAHArt, this project provides an opportunity for citizens to take the stage and participate in the creation of culture and art. The story is set at Kumoji Elementary School, which once stood on the very grounds before NAHArt was built. Playwright and director Jin Maehiro (Hi-pu) creates a fact-based fictional story woven together from memories solicited from citizens regarding the Kumoji district and Kumoji Elementary School. Starting with standing where classrooms once were and sharing memories, the story unfolds across time—postwar Kumoji, the parents' generation, and modern times. Depicting how feelings connect across generations even as the town changes, various 'days back then' are revived on stage: a teacher's words on that day, the walk home playing with friends, changing landscapes, and unforgettable incidents. Approximately 50 citizens ranging from 3rd graders to people in their 60s will perform, staging a grand production for just 2 days.
