In Okinawa City, September 7, the day the Battle of Okinawa officially ended, is designated as 'Okinawa Citizens' Peace Day' as an important day to reflect on peace. On Monday, September 7, 2026, the Okinawa Citizens' Peace Day Commemorative Event will be held at Okinawa Civic Small Theater Ashibina. Hosted by Garage Sale, the event features a talk session with Tsune Teruya, who was 4 years old when aboard the schoolchild evacuation ship 'Tsushima Maru', as well as a mini-concert by the Okinawa Higashi Junior High School Brass Band. As the main attraction, the original musical drama 'Tsumugu' will be performed, featuring Nakanomachi Yakalars, Arinkurin, and Orion League, depicting the preciousness of peace through song and story. With staging tailored for a wide range of generations including authentic music, performing arts, and theatrical acting, it conveys the preciousness of peace while touching upon Okinawa's culture and history. A VR experience booth simulating atomic bomb damage is also scheduled to be set up at the venue.
