About this event
During Silver Week in 2026, Okinawa Zoo & Museum will be open late until 21:00 for 5 consecutive days. 'Okinawa Zoo & Museum Silver Week 2026' will be held from Saturday, September 19 to Wednesday (National Holiday), September 23, 2026. Learning, experiences, and encounters will spread throughout the park, including the Animal Welfare Week event 'Animal Festa 2026', the 'Mini Traffic Safety Fair' for learning traffic safety in a fun way, and hands-on programs at the Wonder Museum. Special animal interaction programs will be held daily, such as a limited public exhibition of the Okinawa rail (Yanbaru Kuina), a celebration event for Japan's oldest hippo 'Momoe', feeding experiences, and horseback riding experiences, alongside crafting activities such as iron beads. Since the park stays open late into the night, it is also perfect for an outing starting from the cooler evening hours. In particular, on Monday, September 21, in honor of Respect for the Aged Day, individuals aged 65 and older as well as residents of Okinawa City can enter for free. Silkscreen printing and tin badge making experiences are also available, allowing you to take home handmade original goods.
