World Yabusame Championship

About this event

An international yabusame (horseback archery) competition bringing together top athletes from Japan and abroad will be held in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture, known as a horse-breeding region. Divided into beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional, and team divisions, competitors will vie with the skills they have refined. The heroic sight of riders galloping on horseback and shooting arrows at targets captivates spectators. A challenge match as a martial arts tourism program targeting inbound tourists and others will also be held, promoting international exchange. At the venue, visitors can also enjoy a bow-and-arrow experience corner, horseback riding experience (paid), original merchandise sales, food stalls corner, and a kids' corner. With PR booths by the Japan Self-Defense Forces and breast cancer screening awareness activities, it is an event rich in local flavor. It marks the final tournament of the season, gathering top finishers from various 2026 yabusame competitions.
