Misawa Festival 2026
Japanese name:三沢まつり2026
📅 Thu, Aug 20, 2026 - Sun, Aug 23, 2026
About this event
Held in Misawa City, Aomori Prefecture, the Misawa Festival 2026 is a traditional festival originating from prayers to ward off fire disasters in the Furumagi district. During the period, portable shrine (mikoshi) processions and parades of magnificent floats take place, bringing local residents and tourists together in excitement. At the eve-of-festival celebrations, a festival music contest and float judging event are held, building up the festival spirit. On the first day, a joint nighttime procession of portable shrines and floats creates a magical evening atmosphere. On the middle day, diverse cultural events such as a grand costume parade, the Misawa International Carnival Parade, and Nagashi-odori dance are held, allowing visitors to enjoy an internationally rich fusion of cultures. With plenty of participatory programs such as float-pulling experiences, costume parades, Nagashi-odori, and children's processions (ochigo-san), the event offers fun for people of all ages. The unique floats crafted by 12 festival committees are among the main highlights.
