Held at Shimotakonoura Fishing Port in Akasaki-cho, Ofunato City since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the 'Ofunato City First Pacific Saury, Sea Urchin, Abalone, Scallop, Oyster, Sea Squirt, and Wakame Festival' aims to generate vitality and features a diverse lineup of music shows. In addition to 8,000 complimentary charcoal-grilled pacific sauries and sales of abundant coastal seafood, visitors can enjoy music shows by entertainers. Following the passing of the former chairman, the executive committee has transitioned to a new organization and is planning initiatives to entertain attendees. The music shows are being coordinated primarily around entertainers who have performed previously, with appearances by student groups also being discussed. Collaboration with the city will be strengthened to increase hometown tax donation applications. Charity activities to support disaster-affected areas are also under consideration, and this year marks the 14th edition of the event promoting seafood and expressing gratitude for recovery support. The venue is decorated with large-catch flags, lined with saury grilling stations where 'sanma grilling masters' grill them fragrantly. In addition to fresh raw saury, there will be sales of marine products such as wakame seaweed, sea squirts, and sea urchins, charcoal-grilled oysters and scallops, and a wide variety of items from food and beverage vendors. Furthermore, a celebratory mochi toss, local performing arts presentations, and the setup of a kids' corner are planned, strengthening ties with supporting organizations to create vitality.
