The annual Pacific Saury Festival at Yuriage Port Morning Market, heralding the arrival of autumn, will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Celebrating its 40th anniversary and 41st edition since starting in 1985, approximately 2,000 raw Pacific saury will be distributed for free. Despite poor catches in recent years, the largest possible raw saury have been secured with the cooperation of Sensui Group Suzuriki Suisan Co., Ltd. At a special charcoal grilling area in the venue, visitors can savor freshly grilled, piping-hot saury. It is an excellent opportunity to enjoy this fatty seasonal delicacy amidst fragrant smoke with family and friends. Numbered tickets will be distributed starting at 6:00 AM on the day, which can be exchanged for saury to grill by yourself at the designated grilling area. The distributed saury must be grilled and eaten at the special grilling area within the venue and cannot be taken home.
