Held at Q&A Stadium Miyagi, which boasts one of the largest scales in the Tohoku region, "Rifu Dream Athletics 2026" is a great opportunity to demonstrate the results of daily training. A wide range of participation categories is set from elementary school students to the general public, with individual events including the 100m, 800m, and relays. The elementary school division offers events such as grade-specific 100m, combined 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade 800m, combined 4th-6th grade long jump, and javball throw. The general division (junior high school students and above) includes the 100m, 800m, and 4x100m relay, with JAAF-registered athletes able to participate as officially certified competitions. Entry fees are 600 yen per individual event for elementary school students, 800 yen per individual event for the general category, and 2,000 yen per team for relays, payable at reception on the day. The entry fee includes injury insurance, record certificate, and athlete bib costs. Competition rules comply with the 2026 Japan Association of Athletics Federations Competition Rules, and awards will be given up to 3rd place in each event. First-place winners in each elementary school event will receive a medal, and record certificate sheets will be distributed to participants. As a heat illness prevention measure, events may be canceled or suspended if the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) reaches 31°C or higher, but entry fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. Since congestion is expected on the day, visitors are advised to arrive with plenty of time to spare.
