Hosted by Kanto Railway, the "Mitsukaido Rolling Stock Depot Open Event 2026" opens up the train depot—usually closed to the public—for railway enthusiasts and families to enjoy. Held on Tuesday (national holiday), November 3, 2026, visitors will board a special dedicated train from Mitsukaido Station to reach the venue. The event features exhibitions of various train models that can be freely viewed and photographed. A major highlight is a live demonstration using a 30-ton crane for vehicle maintenance, where attendees can watch a train car being lifted and moved up close. Other hands-on activities include riding a track inspection bicycle once used in railway maintenance, and a train conductor experience (door operation and in-car announcements) for elementary school children and younger to learn about railway jobs. Factory building tours and commemorative photo sessions in children's uniforms inside the driver's cab will also be held. Original Kanto Railway merchandise and genuine used railway goods will be on sale. The event runs on a 3-slot rotation system per day, limited to the first 400 participants per slot, with an admission fee of 700 yen for elementary school students and older. Advance registration is required, and tickets must be purchased via Peatix.
