"Tsukuba Express Festival 2026" is an event held simultaneously across two venues—the TX General Base (Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture) and Branch Park Moriya (Moriya City, Ibaraki Prefecture)—on Tuesday (public holiday), November 3, 2026. Celebrating its 19th edition this year, the festival allows you to experience behind the scenes of the railway, including tours of the train workshop normally closed to the public, displays of inspection vehicles, parts exhibitions, operating pantographs up and down, and handle operations. In addition, there will be tug-of-war competitions with TX trains and sales of TX merchandise as well as merchandise from various railway companies. Special experiences such as boarding depot trains and visiting driver's cabs are also available through an advance lottery system. At the second venue, Branch Park Moriya, which requires no advance application, visitors can enjoy kitchen cars and food sales by local municipalities along the line, displays of road-rail vehicles, and children's uniform dress-up experiences. A stamp rally covering both venues will also be held, offering plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
