About this event
Selected as one of the '100 Scenic Spots of Ashikaga,' the 'Yagibushi Hometown Festival' is one of the largest festivals in the Mikuriya district, passing down traditional Yagibushi inherited from ancestors to future generations, expanding community solidarity, and contributing to bright town planning. Yagibushi, known nationwide for its crisp rhythm, originated in Yagi-juku in the Mikuriya district, and both its songs and dances are loved as straightforward expressions of the temperament of Kanto people, especially Yashu people from its birthplace. The first Genta Horigome, who recorded Yagibushi in the Taisho era and made it famous nationwide, also came from Yagi-juku. This festival is widely cherished so that its long-transmitted authentic style remains preserved.
