32nd Taisho Era Festival

About this event

The "Taisho Era Festival" is a festival that began to commemorate the opening of Yono Station in the first year of the Taisho era. At the venue, about 100 people parade dressed in attire symbolic of the Taisho era, such as geisha, maiko, military officers, modern girls, modern boys, police officers, and station attendants. Additionally, a diverse array of entertainments can be enjoyed, including taiko drumming, festival accompaniment music (ohayashi), street performances, portable shrines (mikoshi), mock stalls, and hula dancing. On Saturday the 10th, co-hosted with the Yono Street Festival, the entire town becomes an event venue with programs prepared to fully enjoy food and music. The main event, the parade in attire capturing the feel of the Taisho era, is scheduled to take place on Sunday the 11th.
