About this event
The "Otori Festival," held as the "Nakasendo Pedestrian Zone," opens with a parade themed around the "Oriental Stork (Konotori) Legend," which is also said to be the origin of the name Konosu. Street performances such as festival float hayashi music, cheer dancing, lion dances, and Soran Bushi dance by local elementary school students enliven the festival. In addition, you can enjoy the "Hina Market," which hosts a flea market and Pacific saury festival, as well as demonstrations of "Matoi-furi" (standard-waving) and "Hashigo-nori" (acrobatic ladder climbing) by the Konosu District Steeplejacks' Association. The walking-style cosplay event "Karizome Machi @ Konosu" held on the same day is also noteworthy. During the festival period, the "Flower Present Sale" will also be held, where a small potted flower is given as a gift when purchasing 3,000 yen or more at participating stores along Nakasendo.
