About this event

Held in Kitamoto City, Saitama Prefecture, the "Kitamoto Festival 'Yoi Matsuri' (Eve Festival)" is known as one of the largest Neputa festivals in the Kanto region. A variety of performances can be enjoyed during the daytime, and in the evening, the festival kicks off in earnest with the powerful sound of Kitamoto Taiko drums. Around 20 Hirosaki-style fan-shaped Neputa floats and musical accompaniment floats parade through the area, bustling with crowds as joint performances of festival and Neputa music echo all around. In addition, the "Giant Straw Bale Pulling," an eccentric festival from the sister city of Aizubange Town in Fukushima Prefecture, will be held concurrently, featuring the impressive sight of all participants pulling 5-ton giant straw bales together. Open to people of all ages and genders, this event provides a valuable opportunity to experience the local culture and vitality firsthand.
