About this event
The "60th Matsubara Danchi Festival & Hiyama Bon Dance," held in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture, is a traditional summer festival that unites the community. Bringing color to the end of summer every year in the Soka Matsubara area, which has been revitalized through redevelopment, this festival marks its commemorative 60th edition this year. With a large Bon dance circle, the lights and sounds of set-piece fireworks, and children's smiling faces, visitors can enjoy the last part of summer with a touch of nostalgia. The Hiyama Bon Dance will be held on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 at Matsubara Danchi West Exit Park, and anyone can participate. In addition, set-piece fireworks will take place on the grounds of Sakae Elementary School on Saturday, August 29, which can also be enjoyed via live relay at the Bon dance venue. Various other attractions are scheduled, including quoits (ring toss), watermelon splitting, a haunted house, a shogi tournament, a bingo tournament, and food stalls, aiming to expand interaction among local residents and deliver an extraordinary summer experience to children.
