About this event

Seeking to realize permanent world peace and pass down the misery of war and the preciousness of peace to future generations, Koshigaya City is holding the 'Koshigaya Peace Forum 2026.' This year's theme is 'Schoolchildren and Students during and after the War,' featuring exhibitions and a lecture. At the Peace Exhibition 'Schoolchildren and Students during and after the War - Youth at the Mercy of Fate,' while passing down wartime experiences to the next generation is becoming more difficult, participants will reflect on the misery of war and the preciousness of peace through displays of materials related to schoolchildren and students. Materials regarding Koshigaya City's war records, including the 'Blue-Eyed Doll,' and essays written by junior high school students who attended the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony will also be exhibited. In addition, concurrently held, a VR goggle experience session will be conducted to simulate the reality of the atomic bombing. At the Peace Lecture, attendees will reflect on war and peace through rakugo. Sanpei Hayashiya will convey the tragedy of war and the value of peace through a recitation of 'Shutsusei Iwai' (Farewell to Departure for the Front), created by his grandfather, the 7th Hayashiya Shozo, and his parents' wartime experiences. Furthermore, a presentation of essays by representative junior high school students who attended the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony will also take place.
