About this event
The Ogano Spring Festival is a traditional festival passed down in Ogano Town since ancient times. Ogano Town has a long history, said to trace its beginnings back to "Kokanogo" recorded in the "Wamyosho" compiled in the mid-Heian period. As materials reflecting its prosperity at that time, festival floats (yatai) and umbrella floats (kasaboko) are pulled through the streets during this festival. Ogano Town is also famous as a town of Kabuki, and its local community theater "Ogano Kabuki"—performed entirely by local residents from the actors to the backstage crew—enjoys high acclaim nationwide. During this spring festival, Kabuki performances are staged, allowing visitors to experience the region's traditional culture. The procession of floats and umbrella floats around the town creates a lively and festive atmosphere to enjoy.
