The 102nd Japan Intercollegiate Swimming Championships (Open Water Swimming Competition)
Japanese name:第102回日本学生選手権水泳競技大会(OWS競技)
📅 Sat, Oct 3, 2026 - Sun, Oct 4, 2026
About this event
This tournament is the Japan Intercollegiate Open Water Swimming (OWS) Championship, the ultimate long-distance swimming competition set in the great outdoors across oceans, rivers, and lakes. In a harsh and constantly changing natural environment of waves, currents, water temperature, and wind, not only swimming ability but also strategy, judgment, and mental strength are fully tested. Unlike swimming in a pool, this is a sport where victory goes to those who can harmonize with nature beyond human control. The tournament features a wide variety of race formats competing for speed and strength, including individual events of 10km, 5km, 3km knockout sprint, as well as a mixed 4x1.5km relay. Overcoming personal limits and mastering nature to seize glory—that is OWS. This tournament will be held at Hojo Beach in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture, from Saturday, October 3 to Sunday, October 4, 2026.
