About this event

Held in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture, the "Usui Furusato Nigiwai Festival" is an event aimed at promoting the sound development of youth and fostering friendship between local residents and business owners, held as a new festival for a new town while passing down Usui's traditional culture. In addition to performances such as portable shrines (mikoshi), Japanese taiko drums, and dancing, junior high school summer concerts and stage events at Oise Park will also take place. In the past, processions of "Sakura Nebuta" and live music events were also held, adding flair to the festival. In 2026, it is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 22, from 15:00 to 21:00. The venue is around Lake Pier Usui, taking place across three locations: the road from the Mitsukoshi Usui store intersection to Oise Park, Oise Park, and Sakura Harmony Hall. At the main venue, diverse performances will unfold, including taiko performances on stage and in the street, a fire department band parade, dancing, and portable shrine processions. In particular, "Bon Odori to Western Music" is a program where anyone can dance to well-known classic hits with choreography that can be learned on the spot by everyone from children to seniors, and walk-in participation is welcomed. At Oise Park, visitors can enjoy food and game stalls, acoustic live performances, Japanese taiko drumming, and Rock Soran. At Sakura Harmony Hall, a "Summer Concert" will be held featuring the Sakura Charmant Wind Orchestra, Sakura City Brass, and local elementary and junior high schools. On the day, vehicular traffic will be closed from 15:30 to 21:30.
