About this event
Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the introduction of peanuts to Chiba Prefecture, the 35th Yachimata Fureai Summer Festival will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Keyaki no Mori Park and the Yachimata Station South Exit Shopping Street in Yachimata City, Chiba Prefecture. This festival highlights the unique local character of Yachimata City, famous for its peanuts. The specialty free peanut distribution will take place twice a day for 10 minutes each time. Visitors can enjoy local specialties including free tastings of freshly harvested boiled Oomasari peanuts, sales of raw peanuts, and tasting and sales of ginger ale made with Yachimata-grown ginger. In addition, local vegetables and specialty goods will be sold. Performances include original songs by the Yachimata PR ambassadors Peanut Girls (Rakkasei Musume) and their special cool-breeze dance (Rakkasei Musume Special Noryo Odori) as the climax of the festival. At dusk, a Bon dance unfolds around the central park tower (yagura) to songs such as Yachimata Donto Odori and Rakkasei Ondo. On stage, various performers will present Japanese taiko drums, dance, acoustic singing, traditional festival music (ohayashi), and student bands. As a unique rule of the festival, bringing leisure picnic sheets is prohibited, and visitors are encouraged to travel light. Parking is available at Yachimata City Hall, but street parking is strictly prohibited. The venue has good access, located about a 3-minute walk from the South Exit of JR Sobu Main Line Yachimata Station. The festival starts at 10:00 AM, but attendees must prepare their own heat protection measures. Food and drink can be purchased anywhere in the venue, but since leisure sheets cannot be used, using tree shade during the day or returning to the station area temporarily is practical. You can also target just the evening Bon dance. There are many peanut direct-sale shops around the venue, making them recommended souvenirs. Note that while the Yachimata! Super Delicious! Ramen Festival is held at Keyaki no Mori Park in spring, it is a separate event.
