About this event
The "Moon Viewing Lantern Festival" will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at "Grandvaux Spa Village," the glamping area of the experiential resort facility "Resol no Mori" in Nagara Town, Chiba Prefecture. At this event, lanterns will be launched into the autumn night sky to celebrate the bountiful harvest while admiring the moon. In particular, lanterns will be released carrying wishes for the restoration, reconstruction, and bright future of areas affected by the torrential rains that occurred in Chiba Prefecture in August. Following the lantern launch, the "Moon Viewing Night Tour" will be held, where participants can enjoy astronomical observations through telescopes—viewing lunar craters, the Summer Triangle, Pegasus, the Andromeda Galaxy, and more—guided by Associate Professor Hidehiko Agata of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ). In addition, a "Telescope Making" workshop produced by NAOJ will be offered, allowing participants to observe the night sky through telescopes they build themselves. In an environment surrounded by rich nature, accompanied by the warm glow of lantern light, guests can spend a magical evening lighting hopes for the region's speedy recovery and future.
