About this event

A seminar where you can preview the charm of the Zenko-ji Gokaicho, a special opportunity held once every seven years, right in Ginza. The head priest of Zenko-ji will directly explain in an easy-to-understand manner—even for first-time visitors—the significance of Gokaicho, worship etiquette, highlights, events during the period, temple lodgings (shukubo), and pilgrimage approach gourmet food. In the second half of the seminar, in addition to a fresh taste comparison of 3 seasonal varieties of Shinshu apples that Nagano Prefecture boasts (Shinano Sweet, Fuji, and Red-fleshed Apple), you can also enjoy a tasting experience of all-apple sweets and drinks such as apple pie, apple oyaki dumplings, and juice. This special 2-hour program allows you to savor the emotional depth of Gokaicho and the bounty of Shinshu through all five senses, making next spring's visit to Zenko-ji Temple all the more anticipated.
