Japanese name:しながわ宿場まつり

About this event
The Shinagawa Shukuba Matsuri is one of the largest events in Shinagawa Ward, held since 1990 to pass down the traditions and cultural heritage of Shinagawa-shuku—which flourished as the first post town on the Tokaido road during the Edo period—to younger generations and to promote regional development. Recreating the hustle and bustle of that era, the festival takes place along the roughly 2-kilometer Old Tokaido road preserved from the Edo period (from Yatsuyama in Kita-Shinagawa to Aomono Yokocho in Minami-Shinagawa). Visitors can enjoy historic events such as the Oiran Dochu procession, the Shukuba Matsuri parade, and a traffic safety parade.
